The Catholic Movie Reviewer Shares The Most Anticipated Family Movies Of 2024

Most Anticipated Family Movies Of 2024

Hey there, movie enthusiasts! Mato Rivera, The Cinematic Catholic, here, and I’m thrilled to share my excitement for the upcoming family movies in 2024. Let’s dive into my top 10 picks without further ado.

“Ordinary Angels” | February 23rd

Kicking off the list is “Ordinary Angels,” a touching true story featuring Hillary Swank. The film revolves around a woman who becomes involved in fundraising for a young girl in need of a transplant. With a promising trailer and a faith-based theme, this one is on my radar.

“Cabrini” | March 8th

Produced by Angel Studios, known for “Sound of Freedom,” “Cabrini” explores the life of St. Frances Cabrini. The trailer showcases impressive production quality, powerful storytelling, and a focus on the influential woman’s story, making it a must-watch for International Women’s Day.

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and “Kung Fu Panda 4” | March 29th

A double feature on this day brings us “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and “Kung Fu Panda 4.” The continuation of the Ghostbusters saga has piqued my interest after the success of “Afterlife.” Meanwhile, the lovable Jack Black returns in what I hope to be another strong addition to the “Kung Fu Panda” series.

“If” | May 17th

Titled “If” for Imaginary Friends, this movie, directed by John Krasinski, reunites him with Steve Carell and features a star-studded cast, including Ryan Reynolds and Emily Blunt. With Krasinski’s storytelling prowess, this film is a definite watch.

“Garfield” | May 24th

The beloved cat is back on the big screen, and despite some initial skepticism about Chris Pratt’s involvement, I’m optimistic about this animated feature. Let’s hope for some enticing trailers leading up to the release.

“Jesus Thirst: The Miracle of the Eucharist” | June 4th-6th

A unique addition to the list is a documentary hitting theaters for an entire weekend. “Jesus Thirst” explores the Eucharist, promising an immersive experience for Catholics. As a big supporter of faith-based films, I’m eagerly anticipating this one.

“Inside Out 2” | June 14th

Pixar’s sequel to the emotional rollercoaster, “Inside Out,” is on the horizon. While there are rumors of certain ideologies being included, I’ll reserve judgment until I see it myself. Stay tuned for a review as soon as I catch this one.

“Despicable Me 4” | July 3rd

Illumination Studios continues its success with the next installment in the “Despicable Me” franchise. Given their track record, I’m expecting nothing less than an entertaining family film.

“The Lord of the Rings: The War of the War Worm” | December 13th

A surprise animated addition to the legendary “Lord of the Rings” series is set to release near the end of the year. While I may not be the biggest Tolkien fan, the inclusion of original cast members has piqued my curiosity.

As we eagerly await these releases, I’d love to hear from you. Which movies are you most looking forward to in 2024? Did I miss any gems? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and let’s make this year a fantastic one for family movie enthusiasts!
